From both a symbolic and a functional standpoint it’s a failure

If you’re reading this on a mobile,  the above gif almost certainly won’t load. If you’re reading on a desk top, the above gif almost certainly won’t load. If you’re not reading this at all, how are you reading this?

I made a gif of me running up an incline wearing a new Engineered Garments gilet. The gif has 36 frames in it. So it probably won’t load. It’s supposed to symbolise ‘next level clothing’. However as the garment in question was obtained last week in the Liberty sale, it’s probably not that next level. While the gif itself is too big to function elegantly. So from both a symbolic and a functional standpoint it’s a failure. These facts now play perfectly into my revisionist perspective – that this is exactly what I wanted to achieve all along to make a very intelligent point about the fruitlessness of aspiration.

The gilet is SS15 EG and as such was originally extraordinarily priced at 285 quid. I mean, its got some pockets and that, but it’s unlined… Anyway, I got over half off at Liberty, a store I don’t usually trouble as they add at least a tenner to everything, but at sale time the cuts are immediate, deep and pleasing. None of that quibbling around with 30%, then 40% etc… it’s just bosh, 50%+ off at least. You’ve got to respect that.

These are all sold out now, but the EG stripy motif is still available, in the sale over at such fine retailers at The Bureau and Superdenim. And if the gif did work for you, disappointing wasn’t it?
