Occasionally happenings happen. On the social meeds, events relentlessly remind themselves of themselves. And I frequently find that, way after my laptop, tablet and phone have known, I realise I’m going to something.
This happening happened back on May 7. The lumpenly titled, The Little Festival In Hackney Wick at Shapes, was a mix of staunchly 4/4 beats, flowered garlands, a bunch of north east London scenesters, and a women who charged four quid to splodge your face with glittery PVA glue.
For such an occasion, I had to bring out some big guns. I went with a baggy shirt from obscuro Japanese brand Slavy; and a pair of this season’s cotton twill, Balloon Pants from EG. These were chosen specifically to grant me the room to perform my full arsenal of expressionistic dance manoeuvres. A pair of trusty Sandays sneakers provided the grip I need for the electro boogie section.
Phone, jacket and accoutrements went in my Porter x Comme des Garcons bag (if you’ve never owned a Porter bag, I can thoroughly recommend) while I finished things off with a new Tatamize hat, just to look ridiculous. Check the event pics below:
