Coming from the frequently aesthetically irresponsible design team at Kapital, this jacket seems remarkably wearable. No on the wonk hems, frayed seams or labyrinthine patchwork. This is the Kapital equivalent of a simple Comme des Garçons navy blazer – you get to wear the coveted brand without feeling like your outfit’s wearing you.
It’s a Hospital Jacket, based on the utilitarian stylings of garments frequently worn in British military medical facilities. Nigel Cabourn offers a plain version, but for me, the the soft diamond pattern here lifts this piece, adding the kind of, “where’d you get that?” interest a narcissistic bell like me thrives on.
Notched lapels, half-lined, three-buttons, patch pockets – there’s nothing off the charts here to rant about. It’s just perfectly simple, but providing just enough fabricated triviality to stand apart from the herd.
