“I like the way I look. It makes me feel good“, says mournful hustler Joe Buck, during my favourite exchange in Midnight Cowboy. I assume your familiarity. Anyway, this jacket has Joe Buck written all over it.
Whether you’re a wannabe Brokeback Mountaineer or a Duke of Hazzard, there’s room in your closet for a spot of western style, corduroy jacketing. Trim, neat and killing it in this ‘crimson’ colour, Albam’s Schwitters Bomber is my pick.
You can grab it in three colourways, but really, it’s this murderous red that’s the dopeness. I wouldn’t fuck with the tobacco or the black variations myself, but the power of this reddy-browny thing is begging to be unleashed in the bars and byways of south east London.
The Albam-izers say, “it works as a layering piece during winter and will age in and develop its own markings and character the more you wear it.” Which is cool I guess, but I’d want to keep this thing ‘markings’ free for as long as possible to retain that crisp, boxfresh, colour-rich cord vibe. It’s boasting the two way zip (a mandatory on cool kit right now) bound internal seams and Albam branded rivets. There’s also a couple of large front hand warmer pockets in the mix. Coin-up 189 for the privilege.
“And women like me, god-dammit“, Joe’s rant concludes. One of the few things this strident piece can’t guarantee.
