The sister (with a great personality) brand of Engineered Garments, Needles is a fascinating hodgepodge of reengineered US vintage, beaded hippy-dippiness and Tenenbaum style sportswear. I fucking love it. I mean, check this bro in the new SS15 getup. He’s basically Gareth Keenan out The Office. Meets Goldie Lookin Chain. In an incense shop.

Like most stuff I bang on about Needles is from Japan and designed by Nepenthes’ founder Keizo Shimizu. It’s an odd brand to pin down as it really does mix up Americana, classical Japanese wear, 1970’s sports kit and sartorial leanings of The Grateful Dead. And the brand produces something genuinely new. Unusual certainly. A heady blend perhaps. And yeah, it’s probs not for every dude. But so what, who wants to be like everyone else? Everyone else sucks.

It’s difficult to get the benefit of the full range in the UK, but online, you can expect to see some pieces of the following on Garbstore, The Bureau and Haven over the next few weeks.
